Dundee Precious Metals to acquire Adriatic Metals for $1.3bn
Dundee Precious Metals (DPM) has agreed to acquire all issued shares of Adriatic Metals in a transaction valued at approximately $1.3bn. The deal is expected to enhance DPM’s production capacity and extend its mineral reserve life through the acquisition of the Vareš silver-lead-zinc-gold mine in Bosnia and Herzegovina. With a 15-year initial operating, Vareš is expected to bolster DPM’s production to as much as 425,000 gold equivalent ounces by 2027.
ArcelorMittal to sell Bosnian business to Pavgord Group
ArcelorMittal has entered into a sale and purchase agreement to divest its operations in Bosnia and Herzegovina to Pavgord Group. The divesture will include the integrated steel plant, ArcelorMittal Zenica, and the iron ore mining business ArcelorMittal Prijedor, which supplies the Zenica plant. The financial impact of the transaction will result in ArcelorMittal recording a non-cash loss on disposal of approximately $200m.
TMC receives $85.2m investment from Korea Zinc
The Metals Company (TMC) has announced an investment of $85.2m from Korea Zinc to further the development of deep-seabed critical minerals in the US. The Korean company will acquire 19.6 million common shares at $4.34 each and receive a three-year warrant for an additional 6.9 million shares, subject to certain conditions. Upon completion of the transaction, Korea Zinc will hold 5% of TMC’s outstanding shares.
Weir to acquire Townley for $150m
Weir Group, a prominent player in mining technology, has signed an agreement to acquire Townley Engineering and Manufacturing and Townley Foundry & Machine, for £111m ($150m). This acquisition is set to enhance Weir’s manufacturing capabilities and market presence in North America, especially in the phosphate industry. The transaction is set for completion in the third quarter of 2025, pending approvals.
