Jerritt Canyon gold mine

Reserves: 1.6 million measured and indicated ounces of gold 
Production: 4,500 tonnes of ore per day 
Life of mine: Two years

The Jerritt Canyonburg gold mine is an open-pit and underground operation, which was acquired from Sprott Mining by First Majestic Silver in 2021. The facility includes a processing plant, and can produce up to 4,500 tonnes of ore per day, but production has been disrupted by a suspension of work.

Ekati diamond mine

Mine Type: Open-pit and underground 
Location: Northwest Territories, Canada 
Reserves: 26.1 million carats 
Production: 4.1 million carats per annum 
Life of mine: Five years

Burgundy Diamond Mines recently purchased the Ekati diamond mine, alongside other assets, from Arctic Canadian for $136m. The mine itself is an underground and open-pit operation that employs 1,100 people, and produced 4.1 million carats of diamonds in 2022.

Orapa diamond mine

Location: Orapa, Botswana 
Reserves: 284.3 million indicated carats of diamond 
Production: 8.6 million carats in 2021 
Life of mine: 19 years

The Orapa diamond mine will be one of three mines to benefit from the "smart diamond mine project” announced by Debswana and Huawei in March this year. Claimed to be the world’s first 5G-oriented smart diamond mine project, the news was announced at the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona.
