The Australian mining sector is reflecting an industry-wide trend towards more off-grid energy supply to power mining operations, including a growing share of renewables. In this issue, we look at solutions miners are opting for and the benefits and challenges involved in building independent and cleaner energy supply for mining operations.
We also check in on Australia’s push for higher ESG standards in critical minerals mining, from government initiatives and investment to the efforts made by major mining companies. In commodities, we get an outlook for uranium mining in Australia and explore factors that could cause shifts in demand and supply in the coming years. In technology, we explore the potential AI-powered technology holds for the optimisation of crushing and grinding equipment.
We also look at the challenges of attracting FIFO workers to remote mines, and find out how one company is trying to fill hundreds of vacant positions with incentives including free flights and resort-style accommodation.
Read on for this and more news and insights from Australia's mining sector.
