Introducing the GIW® LCC Gen2 pump series

Proven performance, modernized design.

KSB offers comprehensive services to help relieve the pressure and reduce the life cycle cost of your most challenging pump problems.

Since the late 1980s, the GIW® LCC pump has been a trusted solution in industries moving abrasive slurries. Designed for medium-abrasion duties, the GIW® LCC has built a worldwide reputation for combining durability, cost efficiency, and reliable performance. Now, KSB GIW, Inc. is proud to introduce the GIW® LCC Gen2 Series, a modernized version of this proven workhorse that preserves the trusted hydraulics of the original while making operation and maintenance simpler than ever.

Built for medium abrasion applications

Slurries are classified from Class 1 to Class 4, with Class 4 being the most aggressive. For operations handling Class 1 through Class 3 slurries—the medium-abrasion range—GIW® LCC pumps deliver dependability and the lowest total cost of ownership in markets such as sand and gravel, iron ore, lithium, and zinc.

The GIW® LCC Gen2 Series is available in three wet-end configurations:

  • GIW® LCC-M: Made from Gasite® 28G high chrome white iron, the LCC-M is suited for medium-abrasion applications where a hard, wear-resistant metal is the ideal choice.
  • GIW® LCC-H: Also built from Gasite® 28G, the LCC-H is engineered for higher heads and more demanding duties, delivering added pressure capacity and durability.
  • GIW® LCC-R: Lined with KSB GIW’s proprietary rubber blend, the LCC-R can last up to twice as long as metal in the right application.

All three are mounted on the same mechanical end, providing flexibility without added complexity.

Modernized for easier maintenance

When developing the GIW® LCC Gen2, KSB GIW focused on making the pump simpler to service without compromising the trusted hydraulics of the original design.

“Because of the success of the LCC Gen1, we decided the hydraulic performance of the pump would not change,” explained Kevin Pike, Product Manager at KSB GIW, Inc. “The Gen1 and Gen2 pumps have the same great performance, efficiency, and pressure rating. However, the rest of the design was modernized and streamlined. And in the end, we had a great combination because we had a new and improved pump with a 40-year track record of performance and reliability.”

To achieve that balance, engineers introduced several updates that reduce downtime and make day-to-day operation more efficient:

  • Flexible expeller seal conversion – customers can switch between a packed gland and an expeller seal without major component changes, making the pump more adaptable to changing site conditions.
  • Front pull-out shaft seal – allows for quick servicing without removing the bearing assembly.
  • Upgraded bearings – the bearing assembly has been strengthened with larger bearings for improved durability and reliability in demanding applications.
  • Threaded flanges and zinc-plated fasteners – standardized features that make assembly and piping connections simpler while offering better corrosion resistance and long-term service life.

The design team also looked beyond major components to focus on practical, operator-friendly details.

“Direct customer feedback was the foundation of the LCC Gen2 design,” said Pike. “We asked questions like: do we have clearance for tools, are fasteners accessible, do we have lifting points? We considered every detail to ensure the pump would be truly maintenance friendly and easy to work with in the field.”

Cross-compatibility with GIW® LCC Gen1 pumps

KSB GIW understands that thousands of GIW® LCC pumps are already in service worldwide. Protecting those investments was central to the Gen2 design. Many wet end components, such as impellers, suction liners, and casing liners, are cross-compatible between Gen1 and Gen2 pumps. This allows customers to use parts interchangeably, simplifying maintenance planning and reducing inventory costs.

Global manufacturing and release

The GIW® LCC is engineered, tested, and assembled at KSB GIW, Inc. headquarters in Grovetown, Georgia, and is also manufactured under license in South Africa, India, and Brazil to meet global demand.

The GIW® LCC Gen2 will launch in North America on the following schedule:

  • September 30, 2025: GIW® LCC-R Gen2 available
  • November 30, 2025: GIW® LCC-M Gen2 available
  • December 30, 2025: GIW® LCC-H Gen2 available

KSB GIW is building Gen2 inventory for quick shipment of complete pumps and spare parts. Core sizes will be stocked by early Q2 2026, with full inventory expected by mid-summer.

A global rollout will follow, with full availability expected by the end of 2026.

The right pump for the job

For more than 40 years, the GIW® LCC has proven itself in medium-abrasion slurry applications. With the Gen2, that legacy continues in a pump series that is more streamlined and maintenance-friendly.

“KSB GIW has combined decades of slurry pump expertise with customer feedback in designing the LCC Gen2,” Pike said. “The result is a pump that offers a great mix of durability, affordability and useful features. With support from KSB’s global manufacturing network, customers worldwide can soon count on fast access to parts, service and inventory.”

Whether handling sand and gravel, processing minerals, or supporting other medium-abrasion operations, the GIW® LCC Gen2 is designed to deliver the durability and dependability customers have come to expect from KSB GIW.
