In this issue, we look at what’s in store for Australian gold production. National production levels have declined for five consecutive years even as gold prices reached record highs, but upcoming projects suggest a rebound may be near.
Beyond gold, Australia is looking outward, targeting Indonesia’s nickel and Brazil’s critical minerals as COP30 opens new doors for international collaboration. We speak with the Geological Survey of Queensland, a scientific arm of the Queensland Government, on how seismic technologies can uncover untapped critical minerals reserves.
We also review the key takeaway from IMARC 2025, with insights from this year’s speakers and attendees, before exploring the Australian mining sector’s decarbonisation efforts and challenges, from electrification and renewables integration to carbon capture and wastewater management.
Lastly, we spotlight Dani Tamati, founder and director of recruitment companies THE resources HUB and Resourceful Women, who offers advice on how women in mining can forge and sustain their careers.
