Perenti secures contract extension for Canadian copper/gold mine

Perenti has received a contract to continue providing underground development works at Newcrest Mining’s Red Chris copper/gold mine in north-west British Columbia, Canada. 

In a press statement, Perenti said: “The underground exploration decline is an essential first stage of works that will provide a platform for future underground exploration activities.”

BHP receives court approval for $6.4bn Oz buyout

The Federal Court of Australia has approved BHP’s proposed takeover of Australian copper miner OZ Minerals (OZ). BHP Lonsdale reached a scheme implementation deed to acquire all of OZ’s shares, via a scheme of the arrangement.

Scout Minerals to purchase lithium properties in Quebec, Canada

Scout Minerals has agreed to acquire 100% of a large-scale land package prospective for spodumene-bearing lithium pegmatites in northern Quebec from Shawn Ryan and Syndicate. The deal covers large strategic claim blocks in three areas of northern Quebec’s Nunavik region. Scout will also acquire 333km² in North Shore, Quebec.

Hudbay to acquire Copper Mountain Mining for $439m

Canadian miner Hudbay Minerals has agreed to acquire peer Copper Mountain Mining in a $439m all-share deal to boost its copper portfolio. The transaction will result in the creation of Canada’s third-largest copper producer.  The combined company will hold long-life mines and a pipeline of organic copper growth projects.
