New Zealand’s mining industry registered an 11.1% rise in IT hiring activity in November 2021 when compared with the previous month, according to GlobalData’s Job Analytics database.

The industry’s overall hiring increased by 27.71% in November 2021, when compared with October 2021.
Out of the mining industry’s total hiring activity, IT jobs claimed a 56.6% share in November 2021, recording an increase of 0.88% over the last three-month average share.
Top five job classifications in New Zealand’s mining industry’s IT recruitment activity in November 2021
Out of the total job titles, the top five roles commanded a 100% share in the overall IT recruitment activity of New Zealand’s mining industry in November 2021.
Software and web developers, programmers, and testers recorded a share of 87.5% in November 2021, registering a 41.67% decline over the previous month, while miscellaneous computer occupations claimed a 12.5% share, a flat growth over the previous month.
Top five mining companies in New Zealand’s IT recruitment activity in November 2021
The top five companies, in terms of number of jobs as tracked by GlobalData, have accounted for a combined average flat growth share in the overall IT recruitment activity of New Zealand’s mining industry during November 2021 over October 2021.
Hill & Smith posted 8 IT jobs in November 2021 and registered a drop of 52.94% over the previous month.
Entry-level job postings dominate in November 2021
Entry-level jobs held a share of 50%, flat growth from October 2021, while junior-level positions with a 37.5% share, registered a decline of 72.73% compared with the previous month. In the third place was mid-level job ads with a 12.5% share, down 83.33% over October 2021.
