Vale, ABB sign deal to automate Brazil iron ore plants

Vale and ABB have entered into a strategic partnership aimed at developing automation, digitalisation and integrated IT/OT technology for iron ore processing operations in Brazil. The tie-up follows their work at Vale’s Conceição II Model Plant in Itabira, Minas Gerais, which is the company’s first high-tech and AI-enabled iron ore facility. The companies intend to replicate the technology across multiple Vale iron ore plants in Brazil.

Blue Moon purchases 33 US tungsten, antimony projects

Blue Moon Metals has acquired 33 tungsten and antimony projects in the western US, situated near the company’s Springer complex. The transaction is expected to close in October 2026 and remains subject to approval by the TSX Venture Exchange. Under the terms, the projects are acquired on a full ownership basis from a private seller in an arms-length transaction and comprise BLM and USFS lands.

US DFC to fund Harena Rare Earths’ Madagascar mine

The US International Development Finance Corporation (DFC) has offered project development funding for Harena Rare Earths’s mine in Madagascar. The funding was announced at an event held at the US Department of State, representing DFC’s first mining investment in Madagascar. This investment aims to advance the development of the Ampasindava Ionic Clay Rare Earth Project, owned by Harena Rare Earths.

Guinea selects Glencore as bauxite offtaker for Nimba

The Government of Guinea has selected Glencore as the offtaker for bauxite produced by Nimba Mining, the country’s state-owned miner, as authorities seek to exercise greater oversight over bauxite export volumes. Nimba Mining, fully owned by the Guinean state, took over the bauxite mining concession formerly held by Guinea Alumina, a subsidiary of Emirates Global Aluminium, in August 2025.
